Cai Qing

Dr. Cai Qing is an artist, curator and art critic, active in the fields of contemporary art and performance art.
蔡青博士是一位藝術家、策展人和藝術批評家，活躍於當代藝術和行為藝術領域。
He is also engaged in art education and has served as a visiting or full-time professor at many key art academies in China, teaching contemporary art and holding performance art workshops. Cai Qing has curated many art projects and exhibitions, including the first important underground contemporary art group exhibition after 1989 in China, “Traces of Survival”, which he initiated and curated in Beijing in 1998 in collaboration with Feng Boyi; the performance art exhibition “Construction before Destruction” at Shifo Village, Zhengzhou in 2008; and the series of large-scale international contemporary art exhibitions “Symbiosis” held at the Chongqing Yangtze Contemporary Art Museum in 2016.
同時他也從事藝術教育，曾在許多中國重點藝術學院擔任客座或專職教授，傳授當代藝術、舉辦行為藝術工作坊。蔡青策劃了許多藝術項目和展覽，包括他啟動和策劃的1998年在北京與馮博一合作的89年後中國首次重要的地下當代藝術群展“生存痕跡”；2008年在鄭州石佛村shifo的行為藝術展“毀滅前的建造”；2016年在重慶長江當代美術館舉辦了系列大型國際當代藝術展“異質共生”。
At the end of 2018, he participated in the “Action Art 1998–2018” international performance art seminar held by the Inter art center in Quebec as a speaker and curator of the Chinese section, and exhibited his nearly 20 years of Chinese performance art documents at the le lieu art center. In addition, he holds the “Live Art Tour” in different locations around the world every year, including “Overlap Kassel” completed during the Kassel Documenta 15 in 2022, the “Immersive” live art tour 8 in New York in September 2023 and the live art tour 9 in Dhaka, Bangladesh in March 2024. The 10th live performance art tour is expected to be held in Paris from October 10 next year.
2018年底，他作為中國部分發言人和策展人參加魁北克Inter art center舉辦的“Action Art 1998–2018”國際行為藝術研討會，並在le lieu藝術中心展出了他整理的近20年中國行為藝術文獻；除此之外他每年在世界各地不同的地點舉辦“現場藝術巡迴展”Art Now Live Tour，包括2022年在卡塞爾文獻15期間完成的“重疊卡塞爾”。2023年9月在紐約的“身臨其境”現場藝術巡迴8和2024年3月在孟加拉達卡的現場藝術巡迴9。預計從明年的10月10日起，第10屆現場行為藝術巡迴將在巴黎舉辦。
While doing artistic practice, he has published several important professional works and published art criticism in important art magazines in China and abroad. Monographs include “Performance Art and Spiritual Therapy”, the first monograph on performance art in China, published by Beijing World Book Publishing House in 2012; “Performance Art Scene” published by Beijing World Book Publishing House in 2013; and in 2017, his other two new books “Experimental Art Practice – Action Overseas” and “Cai Qing 2015 Performance Art Yearbook” published by Beijing Today Art Museum Publishing House.
在做藝術實踐的同時，他出版了幾部重要的專業著作，並在國內外重要的藝術雜志上發表藝術批評。專著包括《行為藝術與心靈治癒》，這是第一本目前在中國關於行為藝術的專著，由北京世界圖書出版社2012年發行；2013年《行為藝術現場》也由北京世界圖書出版社出版；2017年他的另兩本新書《實驗藝術實踐 – 行動在海外》和《蔡青2015行為藝術年鑑》由北京今日美術館出版社出版。
During the pandemic, he worked even harder and wrote several new books on performance art, such as “Sinking. Returning to the Underground”, “Attack from the side”, “The Assembly That Cannot Be Forgotten”, etc. He also used the international network to organize exhibitions and edited many new books on art interactive projects. At the end of 2021, he planned the “Pure Land – Live Art Tour 6” in Taiwan, which can be said to have broken the silence during the pandemic for the first time and revived the live performance art festival that had disappeared for several years. Cai Qing is planning a live performance art tour in the vast sky of international performance art. He is everywhere!
疫情期間他更加緊工作，寫了幾本關於行為藝術的新書，比如《下沉.重返地下》、《從邊緣切入》、《不能遺忘的集結》等。並利用國際網絡辦展，編輯了許多藝術互動項目的新書。他在2021年底在台灣策劃“淨土–現場藝術巡迴6”，可稱為首次打破了疫情中的寂靜，又重新喚回了消失了幾年的現場行為藝術節。蔡青正在國際行為藝術的廣闊天空中策劃現場行為藝術巡迴展，他無處不在！
